MYBIGTRIP: SINGAPORE Country nº3,

Between Malaysia and Indonesia is Singapore, a small country kept in an island smaller than Tenerife. This former malaysian territory has became one of the most modern cities in the world, with a population around 5 millions that, however, it does not give the feeling of being crowed. Obviously, growth is upright and with modern skyscrapers cohabits a lot of apartment buildings in which most of its population accumulates.

Entre Malasia e Indonesia se encuentra Singapur, un pequeño país contenido en una isla más pequeña que Tenerife. Este antiguo territorio malayo se ha convertido en una de las ciudades más modernas del mundo, con una población de unos 5 millones de habitantes que, sin embargo, no da la sensación de estar masificado. Como es lógico, el crecimiento es vertical y junto a los modernos rascacielos cohabita una gran cantidad de edificios de viviendas en los que se acumula la mayor parte de su población.

What seems incredible, it is that they have been able to conserve natural reserves in such reduced space. But it is true and if you can add to those reserves where you can enjoy of mangroves and tropical forests, just getting out of the train, the main Singapore Botanic Garden, the Chinese-Japanese Botanic Garden and some little forests that dot the island, birdwatching in Singapore is a real pleasure.

Lo que parece increíble, es que hayan sido capaces de conservar espacios naturales en tan reducido territorio. Pero es cierto, y si a esas reservas en las que puedes disfrutar de manglares costeros y selvas tropicales con solo bajarte del metro, le sumas el Jardín Botánico, el Jardín Chino-Japonés y algunos bosquetes que salpican la isla, observar aves en Singapur resulta un verdadero placer.

And that pleasure grows when you can observe species that you expect to watch at someone hidden reserve in the Malaysian or Thai forests, as the Hooded Pitta or the Stork-billed Kingfisher.

Y ese placer aumenta cuando puedes observar especies que esperabas encontrar en alguna reserva escondida de los bosques malayos o tailandeses, como la Hooded Pitta o el Martín Pescador Pico de Cigüeña.

Well, I follow with my birdwatching in the mountain forest of Malaysia, where I am discovering amazing birds. But that in the next chapter, by now enjoy Singapore.

STARTING THE BOOK / COMENZANDO EL LIBRO

I am happy. I am writing from Malaysia, getting in a hotel of a anodyne town where watching birds is not so easy and I have get myself writing the first chapter of MYBIGTRIP, birdwatching from Australia to Spain.

Estoy contento, escribo desde Malasia, recluido en un hotel en un pueblo anodino donde ver pájaros no es demasiado fácil y he comenzado el primer capítulo de MYBIGTRIP, Pajareando desde Australia hasta España.

Carlos arriving from Soria (Spain) to join the australian journey, the farewells and the first birds of a list that already overcomes 320 species, flow on paper as they were waiting to be written. Remembering those days, I start to be aware about the terrific adventure that I have involved myself. As I write, come to me some images from those days and I make a short stop in my writing to share them with you.

La llegada de Carlos desde Soria para acompañarme en la etapa australiana, las despedidas y los primeros pájaros de una lista que supera ya las 320 especies, fluyen en el papel como si estuviesen esperando para ser escritos. Rememorando esos días empiezo a tomar conciencia de la maravillosa aventura en que me he embarcado. A medida que escribo, fluyen algunas imágenes de esos días y hago un pequeño inciso en la escritura para compartirlas con ustedes.
